Hyderabad, August 09: Minister for Civil Supplies Jupally Krishna Rao on Monday stated that the government will issue new ration cards by the end of the month to eligible applicants.
Talking to media persons the Minister said the government will issue new ration cards to applicants based on the biometric method to prevent misuse of the public distribution system by ineligible people.
Mr Krishna Rao was speaking at the inauguration function of an online centre, set up to detect and rectify errors in the personal information of the existing ration card holders. Mr Krishna Rao said that the errors in ration cards were occurred due to officials’ oversight would be corrected in the special centers set up for the purpose.
The errors, mostly spellings mistakes of names, errors in the address of card holders and inclusion of other family members, would be rectified soon, the Minister pointed out.
He informed that the errors in ration cards can also be rectified at e-seva centres and APOnline counters. The civil supply officials, after making necessary corrections in ration cards, will send a report to Joint Collectors for their approval, he stated.
Mr Krishna Rao said special centers would be set up across the city in three-four days to correct the errors in ration cards.
