New railway line an attempt to connect Amethi with rest of India: Rahul Gandhi

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the new railway line is an attempt to connect Amethi with the rest of the country, and added that the UPA Government has always attended to the needs of the people by introducing various welfare schemes.

“This was Rajiv Gandhi’s dream to construct a railway line, and today we are fulfilling his dream. The idea is not just to build a railway line, it is an attempt to connect Amethi to the rest of the country,” he said after laying the foundation stone of the Uchahar-Salon-Amethi rail line here today.

“We have covered five tehsils- Salon, Pratapgarh to Lucknow diesel railway line, Electric railway line Sultanpur to Lucknow, 14 new stoppages, and three new trains. The railway ministry says that the amount of work done by railways in Amethi and Rae Bareli, no other place has seen such work. It is our aim to connect this place to Delhi, Lucknow and the rest of the country,” he added.

He further highlighted UPA’s flagship schemes like MNREGA and the Food Security Act, and said whatever he can do for his parliamentary constituency he does it with his heart.

“We started working on National Highway, Railway line, and we are trying to connect the farmers to Food Parks. By connecting Food Park, future potato growers would be able to send their potato chips to rest of the country from Fursatganj,” he said.

“But just by making railway lines or airports, a poor person cannot get out of his poverty,” he said. That is why we bring new schemes. We brought MNREGA, Food Security Act so that no one remains hungry. Earlier there used to be only one National Highway, today there are seven. Whatever I can do for Amethi, I will do it from my heart,” he added. (ANI)
