New Prosthetics legs for Syrian girl who used Tin Cans for legs

ISTANBUL: Syrian girl Maya Meri, 8, who was born without legs had to use tin cans to make artificial ones, now walks with her new artificial legs.

The girl is walking on new prosthetics after undergoing treatment in Turkey after she was born with no legs due to a congenital condition.

Her father Mohammed said, “I was so happy when I saw her walking, The whole family and all our loved ones were so happy.”

The father and daughter were evacuated from Syria by the Turkish authorities and brought to Istanbul for treatment at a specialised clinic after the pictures of her difficulties sparked attention across the globe following which the Turkish Red Crescent intervened.

Her father suffers the same condition as his daughter, known as congenital amputation which means the child is born without lower limbs.
