New policy to give clearances to Amravati: Javedkar

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Environment & Forests Prakash Javedkar informed that a new policy has been introduced to give clearances for construction of Amravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking to media persons in New Delhi on Wednesday, the Union Minister said that new policy would enable the Andhra Pradesh Government to utilise forest land for residential and commercial purposes. He denied reports that the Centre has granted all clearances without studying the proposals. He also denied of any delays in giving permissions. He said all permissions would be granted on time.

Javedkar said that the AP Government has been advised to minimise the use of forest land for the construction of new capital. He said that Amravati would be constructed in a way that could also protect the forests. (INN)
