New Mobile Phone to check film piracy

“Indian Movie Cap” is an anti-piracy mobile phone which was launched yesterday by AP Film Chamber of Commerce and American Consulate.

By using this cell phone, people can pass on information about piracy of films.

The inaugural function was held at the office of Director General of Police at Lakdi Ka Pul.

American Ambassador in India, Ms. Nancy J. Powel attended the function. Addressing the gathering on this occasion, she said that violation of copyright act causes losses. By piracy, Indian entertainment industry incurred losses to the tune of 959 million dollars. She said that in the present era. People can easily download the films available on internet. She said that AP Film Chamber of Commerce has appointed many software engineers to check film piracy.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Dinesh Reddy, IPS, Director General of Police said that AP Police is trying to check film piracy on a massive scale. A special unit has been constituted in CID to check film piracy. He told that film pirates are also responsible for damaging the economy of the country like anti-social elements.

He said that with the assistance of American Economic Bureau and the Consul General of America in Hyderabad this new mobile phone application has been developed.

Mr. T. Krishna Prasad, Additional Director General of Police (CID), Ms. Catherine Dhanani, American Consul General in Hyderabad. Padmabhushan D. Rama Naidu, Junior NTR and others attended function.
