Newly elected GHMC Mayor Bonthu Ram Mohan on Thursday resolved to turn Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s dream of making Hyderabad a truly global city into a reality.
Speaking to media persons after his election as GHMC Mayor, Ram Mohan said his priority would be to make Hyderabad a slum-free city. Further, he said the city would be made signal-free in a phase manner. Modernisation of drainage system, upgradation of sewerage system, properly supply of drinking water, better roads, street lights and providing other civic amenities would be his top priorities.
The Mayor said he would implement the vision of KCR and Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K. Tarakarama Rao for development of Hyderabad. He alleged that the previous Seemandhra rulers have neglected the city of Hyderabad. He said efforts would be made to get Hyderabad listed in world’s best cities. He said that the State Government has already waived off Property Tax to a specific category of residents. He said the revenues of GHMC would be streamlined and increased through proper collection of Property Tax and mobilisation of other resources.
Ram Mohan sad that the GHMC would implement the welfare schemes under Urban Community Development schemes. (INN)
