New kalyana mandapam in Bhadrachalam

Bhadrachalam, May 14: Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam is planning to shift Kalyana Mandapam from the existing place as per Agama Shastra to enable more devotees to witness the celestial wedding on Sri Rama Navami comfortably.

At present, devotees are witnessing the divine wedding sitting behind the Kalyana Mandapam.

But the celestial fete is not clearly visible to a majority of devotees. Hence, it has been decided to shift the Kalyana Mandapam.

The Devasthanam performed Sita Rama Kalyanam in pandals till 1963. The then endowments minister Kalluri Chandramouli laid the foundation stone for a permanent Kalyana Mandapam and it was completed in 1964. The then chief minister Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy inaugurated it.

The Devasthanam now decided to construct a new Kalyana Mandapam at a cost of `2 crore with all modern facilities for the comfortable viewing of the celestial fete.

A team of officials, led by temple executive officer Chandrasekhar Azad, went to Hyderabad on Friday to take the advice of Chinna Jeeyar Swamy and Ganapati Stapathi, an Agama Shastra expert, on the proposal to construct the new Kalyana Mandapam.

Devotees welcomed the proposal of constructing the new Kalyana Mandapam. Chandrasekhar Azad said the new Kalyana Mandapam would be designed in such a way that it would provide full view of the divine wedding to a larger number of devotees.
