New districts: Panel asked to submit report by Oct. 7

Based on public demand for more districts in addition to a notification issued for setting up 17 districts, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has constituted a high-power-committee to look into the issue.

TRS secretary-general and MP K Keshav Rao will head the committee comprising ministers Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy and Jogu Ramanna. The Chief Minister asked the committee to expedite the process and submit a report by October 7 afternoon. The government will take a decision based on the recommendations of the report.

The Chief Minister asked the committee to hold emergency meetings to sort out and complete its job. The committee will submit a report on the public demand as well as that of the leaders for new districts such as Sircilla, Jangaon, Gadwal and Asifabad. The Chief Minister directed the high-power committee to study the demands and feasibility of new districts.

KK panel seeks suggestions till Oct. 6

Meanwhile, the high-powered K Keshav Rao committee has decided to take suggestions and objections from the public and leaders till October 6. Keshava Rao held discussions with the committee members, including deputy chief minister Mahamood Ali, G Jagadish Reddy, P Srinivas Reddy and Jogu Ramanna at his residence. The meeting discussed on the mandals and revenue divisions to be included into the new districts such as Sircilla, Jangaon, Gadwal and Asifabad.

Later, Jagadish Reddy told reporters that the committee has decided to take suggestions and objections from the leaders and public in this regard till October 6. The High-Power Committee will submit its report to the government on October 7 to take a final decision, he said.

It may be mentioned here that the draft notification issued for forming 17 new districts. However, the Chief Minister constituted the committee to look into public demand for four new districts. (NSS)
