New Delhi: Lt Governor Najeeb Jung directed the Delhi Police on Thursday to focus on women safety measures and ensure that all steps are being taken to provide a safe environment to them (women) in the national capital.
Jung gave this direction to the senior Delhi Police officers in a fortnightly meeting held at Raj Niwas, which was also attended by Commissioner of Police Alok Kumar. “The Lt Governor directed senior officers to focus on women safety and ensure all possible steps in this regard. He instructed to increase police presence in vulnerable areas, ensure preventive action, focus on community approach programme, and strongly deal with the criminals involved in crime against women,” said Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat.
He also reiterated that senior supervisory officers should continuously monitor the efforts taken for women safety, said the officer. Top Delhi Police officers including Special Commissioners of Police(Law and Order), Special Commissioner (Crime), Joint Commissioners of Police ranges were present in the meeting with Lt Governor.
