New born ‘abducted’ from Madurai govt hospital

Madurai, January 17: In a case of baby-lifting, a new born boy has allegedly been abducted from the government hospital here by a woman with the help of a staff.

The baby, delivered by Latha on Friday last, went missing from the maternity ward yesterday shortly after he was handed over to a woman at the request of a hospital staff, the parents said in a police complaint today.

The staff had sought help to take Latha in a wheelchair for eye checkup and asked her sister, who was taking care of the baby, to hand over the new born to a woman there.

When Latha and lakshmi returned after an hour they were shocked to find the woman missing with the baby.

The family said it was the hospital staff who had asked Lakshmi to hand over the baby to the unidentified woman.
