Mumbai, May 29: White is bright, said Sachin Tendulkar here on Friday. He was not mentioning his favourite colour but was indicating which format of cricket he likes most.
“I still like the five-day format and nothing has affected Test cricket,” Tendulkar, who was here to attend the bhoomipujan of a super-speciality hospital, said.
The Little Master was quite diplomatic about the ‘famous’ IPL parties. “I never went for any party. But again, this is a very personal choice and I cannot comment on behalf of others. At the same time, I would say that the players should decide whether they should or should not attend the late night parties if they have a match next day,” he said.
But Tendulkar said that the parties should not be blamed for the poor showing of the Indian team at the recent World T20. “Parties used to happen even before, so they are not new. Parties and players’ performances are two different things.”
Tendulkar expressed confidence that Suresh Raina will do a good job. “I have never played against or under Raina as captain, so it would be unfair to comment on his capability as a captain. But he is no doubt a very good player and all I can do is to wish luck to his young side. I am sure they will do well,” he signed off.
