We never promised zero crime: UP Minister on murder, gang rape

Ghaziabad: The Urban Development Minister of UP government, Suresh Kumar Khanna on Thursday made a statement saying, police cannot be deployed everywhere and no government can ensure a crime-free society.

A man was shot dead by a group of armed criminals and four women were allegedly gang raped on the Jewar-Bulandshahr highway. The statement given by the minister seemed cold in the current situation.

“It is such a big state, we never promised zero crime. But we will take strictest possible action in the incident that occurred on the highway,” Khanna said.

“There cannot be a completely crime-free society… But the BJP government does not patronise criminals like the previous governments did,” as per a report by DC.

A similar incident had happened last year in Sabota village in Jewar, Bulandshehar around 1.40 am when eight people were going to visit a relative undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bulandshahr in western Uttar Pradesh.

SSP Love Kumar of Gautam Budh Nagar informed that a gang of five robbers targeted the vehicle after the driver stopped it near a roadside hut to fix a flat tyre. Where the occupants were taken to the fields and an old man was shot dead. The robbers also abused the woman who was traveling.
