New Delhi: Netizens slammed Republic TV of Arnab Goswami for its tweet before Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman rejoins his family.
Many Twitterati criticized its tweet and urged the channel to behave responsibly.
Mr. Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group also criticized the channel for celebrating before Mr. Abhinandan reached home safely.
I rarely comment on media postures. But the prime objective now is to allow our soldier to come home safely. This is not the time to jeopardise that event with such calls for celebration… Arnab, please, we must exercise restraint… https://t.co/kXgX65XcQP

It’s a shame we have such an irresponsible channel which will do anything to win eyeballs even if it means jeopardizing national interest

After Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan told the National Assembly that the captured IAF pilot will be freed on Friday as a “peace gesture”, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres welcomed Pakistan’s offer.
His Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters: “The report of the release of the Indian pilot by the Pakistani authorities would be very much a welcome step. We would encourage both parties to do whatever they can to de-escalate the situation.”
It may be mentioned that Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman was captured when his MiG-21 went down in Pakistan-occupied territory.
