Netflix’s ‘Mowgli’ opens up about challenges of shooting in jungle

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Nov 26 (ANI): Indian-American child actor Rohan Chand, who plays Mowgli in Andy Serkis-directorial ‘Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle’, has opened up about his experience of shooting the Netflix film.

Speaking at the red carpet of the world premiere of the movie here – which was attended by Serkis, ‘Batman’ star Christian Bale and Freida Pinto – Rohan said it was a “humbling experience” to work with such big actors at this age. Apart from them, the international cast of the Netflix film also includes biggies like Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch and Naomie Harris, among others.

“It was so good to work with this bucket list of a cast. You really get to learn so much from them. Being on a level with them was a really humbling experience,” he told media at the event.

He further said that it is “really great” to get the opportunity to be able to bring Rudyard Kipling’s short stories to the big screen. “I have grown up reading these stories,” he said.

The young actor also divulged details about “some great moments on the film’s set.”

“Shooting in South Africa was really fun because that’s the first time I had actually shot in an actual jungle. I remember monkeys were eating props from the sets. We even caught over 80 snakes and I was walking around in bare feet! So, that was interesting,” said Rohan.

Based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel ‘The Jungle Book’, the movie will stream on Netflix on December 7.

The all-star voice cast of the film includes Cumberbatch as the tiger Shere Khan, Blanchett as the snake Kaa and director Serkis as the voice of the bear Baloo. Bale has lent his voice to the character of panther Bagheera.

Meanwhile, the cast list for the Hindi-language voice dub of the movie includes Anil Kapoor, who will be lending his voice for the ever-so-friendly character of Baloo and Abhishek Bachchan, who will be heard as Bagheera, the black panther.

Kareena, on the other hand, will be dubbing for the giant python Kaa while Jackie Shroff will lend his distinctive and deep voice for the legendary predator Shere Khan. Madhuri Dixit will be joining the jungle as the character of Nisha, who is the wolf mother to Mowgli.

Interestingly, this was the first time a Hollywood film premiered in India first. [source_without_link]ANI[/source_without_link]
