Netflix launches operations in more than 130 countries

New Delhi: American video streaming company Netflix Inc has launched its operations in more than 130 countries, including India.

The video-streaming service went live in more than 130 countries on Wednesday, the company’s Chief Executive Reed Hastings said in his speech at the ongoing Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Hastings further said that India, Nigeria, Russia and Saudi Arabia were among the major countries where the service was launched, Reuters reported.

“We’re moving as quickly as we can, to have global availability of all the content on Netflix,” Hastings said.

Although its operations has not been launched in China, the company is still exploring options for providing its services there.

“With China, you really want to build relationships first, before you get to the practical parts of building a business. And so we are doing that now and getting to know people, both in government and in partner companies,” he added.

The company’s operation was launched in India on Wednesday with plans starting at Rs. 500 per month.

Headquartered in Los Gatos, California, Netflix Inc. established in 1997 is an American worldwide provider of on-demand Internet streaming media. (ANI)
