Kathmandu : The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) in Nepal has been given permission to detain veteran journalist Kanak Mani Dixit at his residence in Patan Dhoka, Lalitpur for ten days to conduct relevant investigations into his alleged acts of corruption.
The CIAA was given permission to question the Sajha Yatayat chairman by a special court, reports The Himalayan Times.
It is being alleged that Dixit amassed property illegally as Sajha Yatayat chairman.
Justices Mohan Raman Bhattarai, Prabha Basnet and Madhes Prasad Pudasaini passed the order after hearing arguments from lawyers representing both parties in the case.
Dixit, however, remains hospitalised due to elevated level of blood pressure.
Meanwhile, at least 18 lawyers have filed applications seeking to represent Dixit.
The 10-day detention will be counted from Friday, when Dixit was first detained. (AN with inputs)
