Nepali Ambassador to Malaysia accused of shielding illegally operating visa processing companies

Kathmandu : The Nepal Association of Foreign Employment Agencies (NAFEA) has accused Ambassador for Malaysia Niranjan Basnyat of shielding illegally operating visa processing companies and demanded his recall by the government.

The association alleged that Basnayt is increasing the financial burden on the Nepalis who reach Malaysia in search of employment in complicity with organisations like VLN Nepal, Biometric, Migrame and ICS, involved in the visa processing for Nepali migrant workers.

The association appealed the government to shut these organisations as they are, allegedly, operating illegally and overcharging the Nepali migrant workers and, Basnyat is protecting them rather than taking action.

At a press meet on Thursday, Association Chair Bimal Dhakal also alleged Ambassador Basnyat of barring its team from for holding meeting with the Malaysian Labour Minister.

The team is included in the trip of Minister for Labour and Employment Deepak Bohara, who is presently on a visit to Malaysia.

The Association has demanded Nepal to sign a Labour Agreement with Malaysia within next three months to ensure rights of Nepali migrant workers and also rescue the workers who fell victims to these visa organisations and have been sent to jail.(ANI)
