Nepalese Maoist leader meets NSA, Foreign Secretary

New Delhi, January 05: Nepalese Maoist leader Baburam Bhattarai today met National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon and Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao here amidst India’s attempt at reconciliation between the warring parties in Nepal as political churnings continue in that country.

Bhattarai’s meetings comes in the wake of Delhi’s serious concerns over the situation in Nepal where the political parties have failed to even elect a new Prime Minister, let alone discuss a new constitution for the country.

“Bhattarai met both the National Security Adviser and the Foreign Secretary,” sources told PTI. During the meetings, Bhattarai is understood to have discussed the situation in his country.

Meanwhile, a think-tank in the country is organising a two-day debate on a strategy for political reconciliation in Nepal which is expected to be attended by the Nepalese leaders across the spectrum.
