Lahore [Pakistan]: Coming out swinging against the government’s decision to not allow him to leave his Bani Gala residence to join protesters in Rawalpindi, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday dared Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif saying that no one can stop him from protesting in Islamabad on November 2.
Questioning if the country was being run by democracy or monarchy, Imran told reporters here his upcoming protest will not be stopped at any cost, reports the Dawn.
“I ask Nawaz Sharif if he is a king or a democratic leader as he has resorted to violence and arrest of PTI workers, flouting Islamabad High Court orders. I want to tell the judiciary that they are on trial. Their orders are not being implemented,” he said.
In a message directly aimed at the Prime Minister, Khan said that he will fight for Nawaz’s accountability till his last breath.
“I will follow you till my last breath. If you put me in jail, I will come after you when I get out,” the PTI Chief said.
He added that even “30,000 policemen” cannot stop him from going to the capital on November 2nd and directed party workers to avoid arrest and gear up for the planned protest in Islamabad.
The political atmosphere in the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi turned tense with the PTI calling for countrywide protests on Friday after police stormed a youth convention of the party and arrested activists in the federal capital late on Thursday.
PTI and the government have locked horns since the names of members of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s family appeared in the Panama Papers leaks. (ANI)
