Neighbour batters 40-yr-old to death

Chandigarh, Nov 16: A 40-year-old resident of Burail was allegedly battered to death by his neighbour after a quarrel in the wee hours of Sunday.

Pratap, who worked as a waiter, was found dead in the morning at his friend’s house where he was taken after the clash with accused Rajesh Kumar.

The police said Pratap, who hailed from Almora, had a fight with Rajesh around 4.30 am after which he was taken to his friend Manoj Negi’s house.

“Pratap was bleeding from the nose after the fight. He slept at his friend’s house, and died some time in the night,” J S Khaira, Deputy Superintendent of Police (South), said.

The victim was found dead by Manoj around 9.15 am.

The police added that the deceased was a drug addict. His body has been sent for post-mortem. The police have booked Rajesh, who is absconding, under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC.
