Nehra back at practice

New Delhi, August 21: Left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra returned to practice today even though Gautam Gambhir, down with fever, stayed out of Delhi Ranji team’s conditioning camp at the Ferozeshah Kotla here.

Like Gambhir, Nehra too had fever but the lanky pacer returned to the ground today to train with most of his Delhi teammates amid reports that star player Virender Sehwag might switch loyalty to Haryana, protesting against nepotism and corruption in the Sports Committee of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

Apart from Gambhir, missing from the nets were four players who are out of the city — including Sehwag, Ishant Sharma, Rajat Bhatia and Sunny Sehrawat.

Sehwag and Ishant were in Kerala for a commercial shooting, while Bhatia is playing league cricket in England.

Sehwag has threatened to leave Delhi and join Haryana protesting against the corruption in the Sports Committee and he has the support of teammates like Gambhir, Ishant and Nehra.

Haryana Cricket Association is also keen to have Sehwag but everything would depend on the star player’s meeting with DDCA President Arun Jaitley later this month.
