Need for secular forces to get united against fascism: Sudhakar Reddy

Hyderabad: The two day meeting of the State Council of CPI of Telangana started at Makhdoom Bhavan on Tuesday. Addressing the meeting, CPI National Secretary, Mr. S. Shudhakar Reddy expressed his anxiety over the prevailing situation in the country. The Central Govt. is making an attempt to suppress the opposition parties which is the greatest danger to the functioning of democracy. By using Govt. machinery, opposition leaders are being threatened. In some cases, they are being purchased. Referring to the recently held Gujarat Rajya Sabha election, Mr. Sudhakar Reddy told that by making the right decision, Election Commission of India has instilled confidence in the democratic system of the country.

He also applauded the efforts made by RJD for organizing “Desh Bachao, BJP Bhagao” rally in Patna in which more than 7 lakh persons attended. The participation of people in such a large number despite floods reveals that people of Bihar are vexed up with the treachery of Nitish Kumar.

Mr. Sudhakar Reddy further told that now the time has come for the secular forces to get united to eradicate corruption and irregularities. He informed that leftist parties are organizing a country wide awareness program from 15th September to 15th October.

Referring to the conditions prevailing in the State, Mr. Reddy told that TRS Govt. is making an attempt to curb the democratic rights of the people of Telangana. He cited the example of shifting the place of Dharna Chowk. He told that the protest organized at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for the restoration of Dharna Chowk was very successful. A representation has been made to Home Minister in this regard.

Mr. Syed Aziz Pasha, former CPI member of Rajya Sabha was also present in the meeting.
