Hyderabad, May 15: In a virtual show of dissidence so soon after the party’s humiliating debacle in the by-elections, senior minister Botsa Satyanarayana on Saturday called for a change in the style of functioning, way of thinking and performance by the entire cabinet, including the chief minister.
“The party’s defeat in the Kadapa byelections is a lesson to the state government. There is a need to revive the party to avert similar humiliations in other districts of the state. The party’s defeat has hurt me. I will place my views before the cabinet and party leaders,” he told newsmen at the Congress Legislature Party office.
The transport minister said that it would be a mistake if a collective decision was not taken by the cabinet on issues concerned when special circumstances which include people’s sentiments and regional differences were prevailing in the state.
In spite of the continuance of all the schemes and programmes initiated by YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the present government failed to create confidence in people. It also failed to counter the opposition’s allegations.
“It has failed to remove people’s apprehensions on welfare schemes. I want the collective responsibility to be more effective,” he said.
