What is Adhar card and why it is needed?
It is a card issued by Unique Identification Development Authority of India (UIDAI) to every Indian citizen which has a Unique Identification Number containing 12 numerals. The card can be used as identity proof, it will make verification easier. It will be made obligatory for property registration also. It is also being planned to link students’ scholarship with Adhar card. It cannot be misused by any other person while ration card and other government proofs may be tampered. If one does not have Adhar Card he will face difficulty availing government schemes as almost all government schemes have been linked with Adhar Cards.
For preparing Adhar card identity proof (pan card/ voter ID card etc.) and address proof (ration card/ electricity bill, etc.) are needed.
