ndia has no immediate plans to raise edible oil import duty, says Paswan

Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Ram Vilas Paswan, has said that India has no immediate plans to raise the import duty on edible oils, as prices of oilseeds in local market fell tracking edible oil prices overseas.

When asked whether the Centre is planning to increase the import duty on refined and vegetable oil, Paswan said : “Nothing as such now.”

Paswan said the government of Jammu and Kashmir can get food grains and vegetables free of cost if they need.

“A godown in Kashmir witnessed a bit loss of food grains of around 8000 tonnes but they have sufficient food grains and vegetables for two months. I can assure that there will not be any dearth of vegetables for two months. We are also ready to supply them food grains free of cost if the provincial government says,” he said.
