Nalbari, January 04: An NDFB militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in lower Assam”s Nalbari district today, police said. Acting on a tip-off that two insurgents of the anti-talk faction of NDFB had taken shelter in Bamunditari village under Mukalmua police station, personnel of the joint team cordoned off the area and launched a search operation there.
The extremists fired at the men in uniform, who retaliated, gunning down one of the two ultras in the wee hours today while the other managed to flee, they said. A .
765-mm pistol with four rounds of ammunition, a hand grenade, 15 metres of explosive tubes and three mobile phone SIM cards were found from the slain rebel, they said. The slain militant was yet to be identified and the body has been sent for post-mortem.
A search operation has been launched to nab the second militant.
