NDA’s OROP announcement is a dilution, says Antony

New Delhi, Sept.6 : Former defence minister and Congress leader A K Antony on Sunday accused the NDA Government of diluting the one rank one pension (OROP) scheme.

“After becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is attacking us. Yesterday’s announcement is a substantial dilution of the One Rank One Pension scheme. It is a dilution of the UPA’s announcement,” Antony told ANI.

“I would like to see the final order of the defence ministry on OROP in detail,” he added.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said people are being misguided about the VRS policy, and added that the applied scheme would benefit all sections of the defence forces.

“Many people are trying to do politics. Those who didn’t do anything for 40 years, have no right to speak on behalf of the jawan,” Prime Minister Modi said, while inaugurating the Badarpur-Faridabad Metro Line in the Faridabad Sports Complex.

On Saturday, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar announced that the government has decided to implement the much awaited OROP scheme and its benefit would be given to all ex-servicemen, excluding voluntary retirees, from July 1, 2014. (ANI)
