Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir today lambasted the BJP-led NDA government for defaming the UPA by making false allegations to tarnish its image and demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi tender an apology immediately.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan today, Shabbir Ali welcomed the judgment of the CBI Special Court in 2G Scam case while it acquitted all the accused saying there was no evidence against DMK MP Kanimozhi and former Union minister A. Raja. Pointing that previous Congress-led UPA government ordered CBI inquiry into the allegations by the Opposition on various issues, Ali said the NDA Government was back stepping on the allegations and scams, which were unearthed since Modi took over as PM.
He also pointed out that media reports said BJP chief Amit Shah’s son Jai shah was involved in multi-crore rupees scam of floating fake companies, weapon deals in Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra, he demanded that the Prime Minister hand over these cases to the CBI or any other investigation agencies.
Referring to the five-day World Telugu Conference held in the city, he dubbed the conference as “Khel Khatam and Paisa Hazam”. He alleged that a large number of eminent persons from Judiciary, literary and Social background from both the Telugu States were ignored. He also opined that promotion of Telugu can be done by taking into confidence of students, parents that this language will help them to acquire employment and there will be a grace marks in the exams in General and in particular in TSPSC
