Former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand and former Governor of Andhra Pradesh, ND Tiwari, who is 88, has married a woman, Prof Ujjwala Sharma, 65, whose son he had accepted as his own after a long drawn legal battle. The wedding ceremony took place at Lucknow on Thursday, according to a report received here.
Ujjwala Sharma’s son Rohit Shekhar (33) had claimed that he was son of ND Tiwari and when the latter denied it, Sharma approached the court. In 2012, DNA tests proved that Rohit Shekhar was the son of Tiwari. Following this, in March last, Tiwari publicly accepted Shekhar as his son.
After the simple marriage, Prof Sharma told a news channel that she was very happy. Tiwari proposed the marriage, and it was a low-profile event, she said.
It may be recalled that Tiwari had resigned as Governor of Andhra Pradesh in 2009, after video footage allegedly showing him in bed with three women. His office denied the allegation, saying that the video had been doctored.(NSS)
