In order to promote Urdu language and make it “lingua franca” in Asia, a world conference of will be organised here in Lucknow in 2016 by the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL).
“NCPUL will organise Urdu conference in Lucknow in January next year and preparations for the same have been started. Participants from all over the world will be invited to attend the conference,” said Muzaffar Hussain, chairman NCPUL, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).
To make usage of Urdu widespread among speakers in Asia, new techniques have been used to make learning of the language easy and discussions regarding the same will be held during the conference, he said.
The NCPUL, set up in 1996 to promote, develop and propagate Urdu language, also plans to build museums for famous poets in Lucknow regarding which they would submit a proposal in this regard to the state government in one or two months, Hussain told PTI.
