New Delhi, March 15: The Nationalist Congress Party on Saturday took a strong objection to Congress leader Satyavrat Chaturvedi holding its president Sharad Pawar responsible for rise in prices of agricultural commodities.
“This is an uncivilised statement…even Congress President Sonia Gandhi would not tolerate such an exhibition of incivility,” NCP spokesperson D P Tripathi said after a
two-day national conclave of the party ended in Karla (Maharashtra).
“We will take up the issue with Congress high command,” he said.
NCP sources said the attack on Pawar, whose party NCP is in alliance with the Congress in Maharashtra, is aimed at halting the growing clout of the party.
Another senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh had last year questioned the relevance of NCP and had maintained that it was time now for the party to be merged with the Congress.
