NCP need to consider merging with Congress – Digvijay Singh

Kolhapur, August 15: With the foreign origin issue of Sonia Gandhi now set aside, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), could consider to merge itself with the Congress, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh who is also in charge of Maharashtra said here today.

Digvijay Singh who came to Kolhapur to interview candidates for the ensuing assembly election told reporters that it is his personal opinion and he has talked about it with NCP chief Sharad Pawar.

NCP was formed on the issue of foreign origin of Sonia Gandhi. That issue is no more relevant, he pointed out.

He said the party will soon decide on alliances with other parties for the assembly poll.

Referring to inflation, he said that Congress is not going to play politics on issue of inflation. The cental government has taken a decision to import pulses and sugar and efforts are being taken to control the price rise.
