New Delhi: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday hosted a tea party for non-Congress and non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders at his residence here.
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Farooq Abdullah, NCP leader Tariq Anwar and TMC leader Derek O`Brien were among those who attended the party.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has downplayed the reports of a new political front taking shape during Pawar’s tea party, saying it was natural for leaders of different political parties to meet.
“Political leaders of different parties often meet, that is quite natural. However, what you are trying to allude whether it is a creation of some kind of political outfit,
the bigger question would be, how many leaders of different political parties actually appreciate Rahul Gandhi`s leadership are willing to work under that and what are their views on how Congress is stalling the Parliament,” BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli told ANI.
