Muzaffarnagar, January 21: A BSP MLA and his brother were today issued non-bailable warrants by a local court in connection with a rape case.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Vikas Goel also directed the senior superintendent of police, Bulandshahr, to explain why the accused were not arrested despite repeated issuance of warrants.
The Magistrate sought a reply before March 15 and directed the police to produce BSP MLA Mohammed Alim and his brother Mohammed Yunus in the court on that day.
According to the prosecution, police had freed 48 Nepali girls from Apollo circus on June 5, 2003, and charged its owners Alim and Yunus of illegal confinement and sexual harassment.
A medical examination of two girls had confirmed rape.
