The incidents of Talaq and Khula are on the rise among Muslims. The main reasons behind this are deviation from religion, lack of awareness regarding rights of couple, revengeful attitude and avoiding shariah counseling. If there is dispute between husband and wife the elders of the family should try to sort out the matter. These views were expressed by Qazi Mohammed Akramullah and Qazi Syed Noorullah better known as Farooq Arifi of Nazir-ul-Qazaath’s office. He told that the Nazir-ul-Qazaath’s office is under the purview of the AP State Waqf Board (APSWB). It is the nodal agency that deals with issuing marriage booklets but most of the people approach the office for Talaq and Khula formalities.
They revealed that when the parties approach for divorce their counseling is done at the first place by the Nazir-ul-Qazaath. Some get the message within one or two hours but most of them want divorce at any cost because of their ego, obstinacy and ignorance.
During the year 2012, 917 divorce certificates were issued by the Nazir-ul-Qazaath. From January 2013 till date 382 divorce certificates have been issued. It was found out that section 498 is the main factor behind rising divorce cases.
