Hyderabad:As promised Telangana Government today handed over Rs 25 cr cheque to Kerala Government at Tiruvanathapuram on Sunday. On behalf Telangana State Government Home Minister Nayini Narsimha Reddy today handed over a cheque of Rs 25 Cr to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Tiruvanathapuram.
The Home Minister took a special flight from Hyderabad and reached Kerala state devastated due to heavy rains and floods killing hundreds of people and marooning the areas besides a heavy loss of property. Narsimha Reddy with a team of officials made it to Kearla and called on Vijayan and handed over the Cheque of Rs 25 cr. The amount is as immediate Assistance from Telangana Government for Flood relief activities he said. As per a directive of the Chief Minister, Narsimha Reddy a senior leader of the TRS reached Kerala and closeted with Vijayan and had a brief talk on the relief and rehabilitation measures being taken up. He also informed about KCR’s readiness to offer more help to Kerala in future if necessary.
Narsimha Reddy expressed serious concern at the rain fury, spoil sports of floods which remained God’s own state in a shambles. He is said to have touched upon the help being offered by several other states. He also informed that the Telangana Government has immediately reacted to the rain ravaged Kerala and came forward to provide immediate financial assistance. The home minister conveyed concerns expressed by KCR to the people of the coastal area seeking help and taking shelter in make shift shelters of rehabilitation. He is understood to have expressed support to Vijayan’s demand to the Centre to announce the Kerala floods as national calamity.
Nayini also said that the Telangana Government has already sent Rs 40 lakh worth 20 tons of milk powder, RO machines and Rs 50 lakhs worth nutritious food items for children to Kerala.
