Congress senior leader and former MP V. Hanumantha Rao on Wednesday urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to order CBI probe into the empire created by naxalite-turned-gangster Nayeemuddin who was killed in police encounter on August 8. He said Nayeem was more dangerous than mafia don Dawood Ibrahim.
In a letter to the Union Home Minister, VHR said Nayeem was involved in large number of land grabbing, kidnappings, extortions, physical assaults, murders, sexual abuse of children and illegal possession of sophisticated weapons. “He ran a parallel law in Telangana for over 20 years and his nefarious activities crossed borders of Telangana and spread to States like Andhra Pradesh, Orissa. Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka etc., Nayeem was also the key accused in the murder of IPS officer K S Vyas in 1993. As per reports, Nayeem was involved in about 10,000 acres of land / property grabbing. Police recovered huge stashes of cash from his residence,” he informed Rajnath Singh.
VHR said that Nayeem had maintained deeper connections with many politicians, irrespective of their party affiliation, high ranked police officials, revenue officials, journalists, film producers etc., Stating that Nayeem’s scandal was much bigger than it appears, he said there were many loopholes in his encounter. He said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT), constituted by the State Government could not conduct an impartial and fair inquiry due the involvement of influential people like politicians and police officials. Therefore, he said that the Centre should order a CBI probe into Nayeem’s cases. (INN)
