Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy has blamed the local MLAs for lack of development in the Old City of Hyderabad.
Participating in a short discussion in Telangana State Legislative Assembly, BJP MLA G. Kishan Reddy alleged that there was no development in localities of real Hyderabad which include areas like Charminar, Musheerabad, Koti, Amberpet or Nampally. He said construction of some infrastructure in Hitec City areas could not be considered as development of Hyderabad. He pointed out that Old City has been kept out of Metro Rail project.
Responding to these allegations, the Home Minister said that although State Government was willing to develop the Old City, but the local MLAs were not allowing it to do so.
Strongly objection to Nayani’s remarks, MIM MLA Ahmed Balala said that the Home Minister’s statement was not fair as MIM was a friendly party of ruling TRS. He said that the MIM did not oppose Metro Rail in the Old City. However, it objected to the proposed route and also suggested an alternate for the same. He said construction of elevated Metro Rail corridor on 10-feet roads would cause congestion and turn the entire Old City into a slum. (INN)
