Nayani opens support centre for women & children

Hyderabad: Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy inaugurated “Bharosa” an integrated support center for women and children at HACA Bhavan, Saifabad here on Saturday.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day on May 8, Hyderabad City Police Commissioner announced the formation of “Bharosa”. Bharosa – An initiative of Hyderabad City Police, which is the state of the art center, will support women and children, who are victims of violence. Objectives of Bharosa are to provide integrated support under one roof to facilitate emergency and non-emergency access to a range of services. It will work towards resolving conflict in families by involving civil society and would also monitor every case and take it to its logical end.

The center will provide all integrated services 24/7 that are related to Police, Medical, Legal, Prosecution and Psycho-therapeutic Counselling. The Center is equipped with well trained and highly motivated staff and modern gadgets including facilities like Video Conferencing, so that the victim need not go to the Court at all.

Govt. of Telangana is committed to the cause of making Hyderabad a safe and secure City to promote all-round development. Hyderabad City Police is also making every effort to create state-of-the-art technology to develop world class infrastructure with a view to transform Hyderabad into a Global City conforming to international standards.

Hyderabad City Police is committed to the protection of rights of the women and children. Due to the steps taken by the City Police, today Hyderabad City is considered as the second safest city in the country, according to a survey on Quality of Living rankings made by Mercer, a global consultancy firm.

Other key features of Bharosa are the provision of relief and rehabilitation to the victims. Special provisions for investigation of child related cases have been set up in the center. With the initial financial support from the Department of Women and Child Welfare and technical help from Tharuni NGO, the Center came into being with several other stakeholders coming forward for the cause.

Bharosa is located in the Ground Floor of HACA Bhavan, Saifabad. Bharosa means Reassurance, Trust, Confidence and Faith and it will definitely stand up to its meaning with the support of everyone who strongly feels that women & children need to be protected.

Director General of Police Anurag Sharma, IPS, Principal Secretary Home Rajiv Trivedi, IPS, Secretary, Women and Child Welfare M. Jagadeeshwar, IAS, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad M.
