Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Sunday compared Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao with Mahatma Gandhi.
Speaking after inaugurating the Jail Museum in Sangareddy of Medak district, Nayani said while Mahatma Gandhi fought for India’s freedom in a non-violent manner, KCR led a peaceful struggle for the formation of Telangana State.
Giving details about the Jail Museum, Nayani said that the Sangareddy Jail was established in 1796 and the same has now been turned into a museum. He said jail records, modes of punishments, belongings of jail inmates and other articles have been kept only display.
The Home Minister also informed that several reforms were being introduced in jails across Telangana State. He said so far nearly 30,000 prisoners have been made literate and 250 have been released for good behaviour. (INN)
