Suspected Naxals allegedly shot dead a shop owner in Maharashtra’s Gondia district, police said here today.
Three ultras gunned down medical store owner Lekhram Sabu Lilhare in Darekasa village, about 100 metres from the local police station, at Salekasa taluka yesterday, they said.
The deceased, a native of Saori village in Madhya Pradesh’s Balaghat district, was earlier reportedly threatened by the Maoists over some payment issue involving tribal villagers, police said.
Gondia SP Dilip Zalke visited the spot along with other officials and the security has been beefed up in the area.
In a separate incident, a Naxal, identified as Shivaji alias Chaitu Pada of LOS Gatta group who was wanted in connection with a number of cases in Etapalli taluka of the state’s Gadchiroli district, was arrested yesterday, police said.
