Bathinda, May 11: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today said naxalites can not find a base in the state as the red rebellion is born out of economic deprivation.
He said, however, police was keeping a watch on isolated incidents meant to foment terrorism/naxalism in the border state.
“Naxalism is born out of economic deprivation and Punjab does not offer any such case to naxalites to launch their movement,” he told reporters here.
Downplaying reception accorded to Amarinder Singh on his return from Dubai, he said former chief minister is an ordinary Congress worker who is fighting for survival in his own party.
He alleged that the opposition party is a fragmented house with each leader making a beeline to 10 Janpath for rotational leadership.
