Ranchi, October 25: A Naxalite was today killed and three others were arrested following an encounter with security forces near Jonha, about 35 kms from Ranchi.
Acting on a tip-off that a group of Naxalites were about to slip into Bengal’s Purulia district, a police team reached the spot and a gunbattle began between the two sides, Senior Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar told reporters here.
“Four Naxalites were hit by bullets. One body has been found,” he said, adding that others fled.
The police arrested three Naxalites, he said.
Three rifles and cartridges were seized from the spot.
The ultras were said to be attached to Maoist Kundan Pahan group, believed to have beheaded Inspector Francis Induwar on October 6.
