“Nawaz Sharif’s monarchy” threat to democracy, says Imran Khan

MUZAFFARABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Monday said democracy in Pakistan is endangered by what he called Nawaz Sharif’s monarchy.

“Democracy in Pakistan is not threatened by Pakistan Army, but that was rather endangered by Nawaz Sharif’s monarchy,” Imran said while addressing a rally at Muzaffarabad.

Imran said the nation had thanked former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf when he toppled Sharif’s government through military coup in 1999. They had even distributed sweets, he added.

Called for across-the-board accountability in the country, he said that the PTI would take to streets if the corrupt persons were not made accountable.

He said that PTI would not back off from investigation into Panama Papers.

The PTI chairman urged the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) not to vote for the parties “who have already been tried and tested time and again” in the forthcoming elections for the legislative assembly.
