Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will meet Afghanistani President Hamid Karzai on Saturday to revive the stalled peace process with the Taliban.
The visit comes a week after Sharif met a peace delegation from the Afghan High Peace Council, which is tasked with opening negotiations with Taliban insurgents, Dawn News reports.
Karzai has, meanwhile, delayed signing a security pact with Washington that could allow a handful of U.S. troops to stay back post-2014 for training and counter-terror purposes.
Pakistan’s support is seen as crucial to peace in Afghanistan after NATO troops depart in 2014. (ANI)
