Karachi, April 28: At least five people have been killed and eight others wounded after a bomb hit a Pakistani navy bus in the southern port city of Karachi.
A roadside bomb targeted the bus as it was passing through Karsaz area of the restive city on Thursday. Four of those killed were naval personnel, while the fifth was a pedestrian, AFP reported.
Tehrik-e Taliban militants have claimed responsibility for the terrorist act.
The attack came two days after two bombs struck buses carrying navy personnel, killing four people and wounding 56 others.
Taliban-linked militants have carried out several attacks on Pakistani government troops, who are fighting miscreants in the tribal region bordering Afghanistan.
Karachi — Pakistan’s largest city — is home to numerous ethnic groups and has witnessed clashes between rival ethnic and political factions for much of the 1990s.
According to official reports, outbreaks of political violence in Karachi killed more than 150 people in 2010.
