Bhubaneswar, January 26: An e-mail, threatening Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik with dire consequences if he attends the Republic Day function in Cuttack, was today found to have been sent from a cyber cafe here.
“The owner of the cyber cafe was being interrogated to find out the sender of the email,” Commissioner of Police B K Sharma said.
“Physical verification was done to know who had sent the mail. But there is no proof. Scientific and technical investigation of the message is going on,” Sharma said.
Stating that cyber cafes in Bhubaneswar-Cuttack need police permission, he said cyber cafes are required to adhere to certain norms, including installation of CCTV cameras and restriction on allowing minors.
The chief minister had received an e-mail warning him against attending Republic Day function at Cuttack in view of a bandh called by Maoists.
