In the wake of escalating tensions in Ukraine and the Middle East, the NATO is planning to form a rapid-response force to tackle the conflicts before they transcend the borders.
According to The Washington Times, the spearhead force, formally known as the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force, will use 3,000 to 4,000 troops from Germany, Norway and the Netherlands .
The interim military force is expected to be ready by next year.
The decision to form a rapid-reaction force comes in the wake of growing concerns among foreign ministers from all 28 alliance members.
NATO has reportedly decided to speed up the process of forming the troops following Russia’s actions in Ukraine, and the threat posed by the Islamic State extremists in Syria and Iraq to alliance member Turkey. (ANI)
