Brussels: NATO defence Ministers on Wednesday agreed to enhance the military presence in eastern Europe at the ministerial meeting, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at the press conference following the first day’s meeting.
He stated that NATO will continue adapting the deterrence and defence to meet threats from any direction, Xinhua reported.
“Effective deterrence and defence requires both forward presence of Allied forces, and our ability to reinforce them quickly, if needed. I expect Ministers to agree to enhance our forward presence in the eastern part of our Alliance,” Stoltenberg said ahead of the meeting.
Taking steps toward reinforcing the alliance’s collective defence and deterrence is the main topic at the meeting of defence ministers.
