NATO aircraft crashes in southern Afghanistan

Kabul, July 20: A NATO aircraft crashed Monday morning in southern Afghanistan, slightly injuring two crew members, an alliance spokesman said.

The plane crashed during take-off at Kandahar air base, a NATO spokesman in Kabul said, adding that the two crew members were treated at the base’s hospital for slight injuries.

“We can rule out any insurgent action,” the spokesman said.

The crash occurred a day after a Russian-owned helicopter crashed at the same Kandahar base, killing 16 civilians aboard.
